The Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate was the crowning masterpiece of Irish born architect Joseph Connolly.  The foundation for the current church was laid in 1876.  The dedication of the completed church took place in October of 1888.  The twin gothic towers were added in 1926 and span a height of 240 feet.
